Bunjil Place \ Koalasize For You!

Koalasize For You! is a digital placemaking activation, the result of a creative collaboration between artist Rosie Deacon and interactive designer Simon Burgin for Deacon’s exhibition SPAGHETTI-STACK-SNUFFLE-SHUFFLE at the City of Casey.

This playful, interactive artwork invites audiences to join an irreverent aerobic dance routine alongside whimsical koala characters on the Bunjil Place public screen. Inspired by 1980s instructional aerobics videos, morning show Aerobics Oz Style, and the iconic National Aerobic Championships, the routines were performed by Deacon and filmed by videographer Dara Gill. The experience leverages real-time digital processing and augmented reality to enhance the experience, relaying live effects onto participants as they move in front of the Bunjil Place outdoor screen.
